Water is huge for any organism. After a disaster occurs, it affects both the water sources and the water cycle.

• Flooding occurs when there's too much water. That may seem like an easy fix, but it isn't. Three ways our disaster affected our water supply are:

1. The flood brought in murk from the land, so when it recedes back into its boundaries it brings in trash, junk, and everyday items, from oranges to dollies. The fresh water has miscellaneous things and is not safe to drink from, lest you choke or swallow something bad.
2. When the flood went over the land, it went over many gross places. You wouldn't lick off the floor of a gas station, so the freshwater from the river would not be healthy to drink for any organism who dwells there. Germs and other microscopic things you can't even see can damage your wellness. Tiny pollutants can give you infections.
3. Other things, such as industrial waste, metals, and particles can do damage to marine life (organisms that live in the river). Metals and industrial waste are toxic to fish and other biotic factors. Suspended particles in the water can make the water harder to receive sunlight and difficult for species drinking and breathing it.

• We propose to fix that by cleaning up the river before any species are put in. From volunteers to professionals on river care, once the river is free of macroscopic waste, we will take it to a treatment facility to clean out the microscopic filthiness. The BEAR Unit and the city of Cairo will pay for expenses.
• Once the water is treated and free of toxins, we can start adding species in, little by little.
• The river can support life now!!

• The flooding that happened in Illinois was caused by snow melts (snow thawing out in the spring) and flash floods (floods occurring in a few hours due to lots of rain).

• Once the snow melted or the flood happened, there was a lot of water that evaporated and condensed into clouds
• Those clouds had a lot of water molecules in them, and caused a lot of precipitation
• More flash floods occurred because of more rain.
• The water evaporated...... and so on until the cycle was broken.
